Bihoku National Hillside Park is a park run by the government in central Hiroshima Prefecture. It is located 10 minutes by car from Shobara City. Shobara is the second largest town in the north of Hiroshima Prefecture and, beside the expressway which goes by it, Shobara is really in the middle of nowhere.
The park is huge by anyone's standards. The main park land extends over 178.8 hectares (440 acres) but its total size is 340 hectares. That is the same size as Central Park in New York. It is not your usual tourist destination for a trip to Japan but there is an extensive traditional culture section. Over 400,000 people per year from all over Japan visit it.
